The Survey said…

A recent YouGov survey shows that surprisingly the younger among us are more likely to feel the burn in their personal life – 41% of 18 to 24-year-olds say their tiredness impacts their life compared to 24% of their older counterparts.

Tiredness was shown to impact family life most for 25 to 49-year-olds, with 32% saying their tiredness can impact time spending time with family.

So what would you trade for more sleep? The survey shows that around half (47%) of Britons would prefer an extra hour of sleep than to be given £20 in cash, while 40% of parents of children under 18 would prefer more sleep over an hour of good behaviour from their children.

We can’t make your children behave better, but we can support your sleep (for less than £20!) with your very own nutrient-packed supplement which is tailored to your needs.

We believe in a balanced approach so as well as supporting your sleep and energy with our supplements we have a team of professionals on hand to help you with some diet and lifestyle changes. Our in-house nutritionist Amy Young has these tips:

  • Reduce caffeine consumption including tea, coffee and energy drinks after 12pm. Studies have shown that even a small amount of caffeine can affect sleep patterns.
  • Your supplement will include vitamins to support your sleep but diet plays a big part as well. Foods containing the amino-acid tryptophan have been found to improve sleep as they are used by the body to make the sleep hormone melatonin. These foods include cherries, bananas, eggs, fish, peanuts, pumpkin and sesame seeds, milk and turkey.
  • Balance your blood sugars with whole foods (fibre!) and avoid refined carbohydrates and sugary foods. Think brown bread, pasta, and rice with lots of vegetables and healthy protein Reaching for foods that give you an instant energy fix will, in the long run, make you more tired and sluggish.
  • Put your phone away at least an hour before bed. Studies show that bright light from devices may counteract the natural effect of darkness which may be affecting melatonin production.
  • Think about supplementing with important nutrients that can promote sleep.
